Christian Women in Media Gather at Regional Connection Events

November 13, 2015 – Dallas, TX – On Thursday, November 19, 2015, the Christian Women in Media Association (CWIMA) will host five inspiring regional connection events across the country in Dallas, New York City, Nashville, Hollywood, and Minneapolis. Each event will feature a keynote speaker as well as a media seminar.

The purpose of CWIMA is to advance professional Christian women in digital media, television, radio, film, print media, music, the arts, and entertainment. The organization uses the five regional connections as a way to provide opportunities for industry networking, professional equipping, and spiritual refreshment. “I am excited about the A-list platform we are providing this year,” said CWIMA President Suellen Roberts. “It’s new and fresh and it will be of great benefit to all who attend!”

The Southeast/Nashville CWIMA features Dr. Carol Swain who will speak on “How to Stand as a Christian in Post-Christian America.” In this message, Dr. Swain will share her personal story as well as some of her experiences when standing for her faith in the public arena. Dr. Swain’s academic work on political representation and race relations has earned her national and international accolades. She is a professor of political science and law at Vanderbilt University and has been utilized as an expert on countless television and radio programs including Fox News’ Hannity, CNN’s Lou Dobbs Tonight, Fox News Live and the News Hour with Jim Lehrer. Her opinion pieces have been published in the New York Times, Washington Post, Wall Street Journal, Washington Times and USA Today. Dr. Swain is the author of six books, with a seventh book scheduled for release next summer. Her most recent book is entitled Be the People: A Call to Reclaim America’s Faith and Promise and is a call to action. The regional connection will start at 6:00pm with a Mix & Mingle at The Historic Carriage Lane Inn | 337 East Burton St., Murfreesboro, TN 37130

The Southwest/Dallas CWIMA regional connection will start at 5:30 p.m. with a Mix & Mingle in the Bent Tree Country Club at 5201 Westgrove Drive, Dallas, TX 75248. At 6:00 p.m. award-winning author, radio show host and former national sports reporter, Lisa Burkhardt Worley, will present: “Radioactive! How a Radio Show can Add Sizzle to Your Organization.” Lisa, who now co-hosts an international radio show called “A Time to Dream,” will present a strategy for breaking into the radio industry and will share the benefits that come from producing a radio program. At 7:00 p.m. dinner will be served and award-winning television producer and reporter for the Christian Broadcasting Network, Michelle Wilson, will speak about “Storytelling that Gets Results.” Wilson has over a decade of television experience at CBN and plans to launch a new television show in 2016 through her company Michelle Wilson Media, LLC. In the new program, Wilson will showcase inspirational and miraculous healing stories. Singer Brenda Crouch is the musical artist for the evening.

The Northeast/New York City CWIMA regional connection starts with a Mix & Mingle at 6:30 p.m. at the Shelter Studios & Theatres located at 244 West 54th Street, New York, NY 10019. At 7:00 p.m., there will be a panel discussion on “How to Grow Your Visibility and Build Your Brand.” Dinner will be served at 7:45 p.m. There will be a panel discussion “How to Grow Your Visibility and Build Your Brand” with a panelists: Jeannie Ortega, Maureen Martin and Ashani Mfuko. The moderator for the evening is Jeanette Eng.

The West Coast/Hollywood Chapter of CWIMA regional connection will be held at CBS Studios located at 4024 Radford Avenue, Studio City, CA 91604. Members will connect at 6:00 p.m. At 6:30 p.m. there will be a Media Panel that will share “Stories of Perseverance” The panel includes Award Winning Scriptwriter, Producer, Director and Television Host, Marion Pyle, Producer and Spiritual Director, Colleen Thomas and Filmmaker and Speaker, Angela Tayes Alexander. At 7:15 p.m. dinner will be served with the keynote address delivered by three-time Grammy award winning Songwriter, Author, Speaker and Bible Teacher, Terri McFadden. McFadden’s presentation is entitled: “Perfect for God’s Purpose.” McFadden will discuss how women in media can use their creative talents to make the world a better place.

The Midwest/Minneapolis CWIMA regional connection will be held at The Woman’s Club of Minneapolis located at 410 Oak Grove Street, Minneapolis, MN 55403. The connection will start its meeting at 5:45 p.m. with a media seminar led by Kristen Brown who will speak on “The Alchemy of YOUR Brand: Creating a Memorable and Monetized Presence to Grow Your Business.” Brown will help attendees discover their current and desired brand elements and create actionable goals that will attract clients and grow businesses. Following the media seminar is a Mix and Mingle time at 6:30 p.m. Dinner will be served at 7:00 p.m. followed by the keynote message by Visual Storyteller Heidi Habben. Habben’s talk is entitled: “Marketplace Ministry in Media…Reaching the Next Generation through Social Media.” Natalie Cromwell will provide the musical entertainment.
